This coffee from Ethiopia is made up of heirloom varietals of Arabica, mostly originating from Typica with native wild mutations. 120 employees work over the season to pick the ripest cherries and deliver them to the washing station. This particular lot from Burka Gudina is classified as Grade 1, showing that a lot of care and effort has been put into the selection, grading, and drying to ensure the highest quality coffee is produced.

Burka Gudina, which translates to “Where the blessings grow” was named by third generation coffee producer Ibrahim Hussien, who bought the land over ten years ago. He grows his coffee without added pesticides, chemicals, or synthetic fertilisers under the shade of native trees which provide an important habitat for the native animals and helps maintain the biodiversity of the area.

This lot boasts clean notes of plum, berries, with hints of pear and florals.

Melbourne Coffee Merchants has supplied this coffee and the information we have on it. Burka Gudina marks the first coffee b3 has purchased from them and we are excited to pursue this partnership in the future.
