Former chief operations officer of the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange Ahadu Woubshet set up Tega and Tula Coffee farm when he saw the potential for specialty coffee as both a personal investment, and a way to support his community. Along with some partner-investors he set about renovating the existing farmland and has nearly 400 hectares planted with coffee, carefully separating lots by variety. Over the past few years Ahadu has invested in drying techniques, technology, and his pickers and other employees, by training and paying them considerably better than the local average.
The lot we have purchased is from the Kasha Block, an 86.92 hectare subplot first planted in 2001 made up of 3 local varietals. This particular block has the highest elevation on the Tega farm! Roasted for espresso and filter, with notes of pineapple acidity, peaches & cream and mango we hope you enjoy it!
